It was amazing; in this first flight I suddenly was doing fun things for the first time, just like that first flight with Cindy!
Went up and practiced departure and turning stalls, letting them fall all of the way over before recovery, and 720 degree turns to get the feel of the plane (more like Louie, of course, than BlueBird, including peeking out from under the high wing, which meant I had to get to know it again). Then we moved on to chandelles, using a railroad track for reference, and then to wingovers (which can be done in sequence and which are basically just more drastic chandelles, which are themselves just more drastic S-turns along a line, although focusing on the angle and pitch rather than the symmetry across the line).
Those all felt good and were even starting to become recognizable, so it was time to do an aileron roll. Woo hoo! Surprisingly, it was the hard 2.5G pullup to start that i really felt most, although I think I did get a bit thrown off by the turning. She did one, and then I did one, and then we did one, and then it was time for a breather as I was suddenly very warm :-) Half way through the climb back to altitude for more I decided to take the better part of valor and call it quits for this time, but I sure can't wait to go back up!
Landing was fun, too, between approaching below pattern altitude because the runway is so skinny, losing the runway under the wing at the turns, and then being too fast and high for her liking on final. She wrestled it around through a few slips and skids and got it where she liked it and then I landed quite nicely :-)

One of my key weaknesses the first time out, IMHO, was not being authoritative enough on the controls. Doing so well requires knowing how far to go for the desired effect so that I put the plane where I want rather than waiting for it to get there, but even so I can do better. With that in mind, ...
Went for a loop for starters this time. I'm actually rather proud of it; I hit exactly 3.5G on the pull, kept my left wing basically on the horizon, found the railroadtrack above when I was upside down and pulling almost exactly a 0.7G at the top, was there for the throttle reduction although we had some confusion, and would eventually have pulled out at the bottom but gave in to "don't yank on it" training and was too shallow. Awesome!
We came around and did another, and she liked my first one so much that we finished it (and even better than the first) with an aileron roll -- and I felt my stomach again. Urgh. Put it back into climb for altitude with a rest break but decided to again not push it; better to stay feeling good and be happy again than get queasy and have trouble next time.
Just for fun she pulled the engine on me. My first reaction (thanks, Cindy! :-) was to trim for glide, whatever that is in Wilbur, but first she had me pull up and up and up to about 40kts, right at the edge of stalling, and the prop stopped. Hey, it's whisper quiet now! I also hear that there's more drag in turning the prop and motor than just sitting there, so a stopped prop will take me some 9% farther. Interesting... Found our glide speed and pointed to the airport and all. Then gave it back some mixture and tipped over again and, at about 125kts, the prop was going fast enough to catch and start the engine. Woo hoo! Hey, if I had that all timed right I could go idle and stopped at the top of the loop and then self-start on the way down and through, eh? :-)
The landing was much better this time, too; still a little funky because he lands so much more slowly than BlueBird, but at least neither a bad position nor a scary speed.
