Leg Notes:
The local Civil Air Patrol squadron has been out in force all weekend to handle parking, traffic, questions, and anything else that may come up, so we're donating sightseeing trips to the cadets in appreciation of their hard work. And, hey, since it's a friendly trip rather than a business venture, I can fly this one!
I took a few minutes to review the plane, and talked my way through the preflight, with the cadets before settling in and covering the safety briefing. They were ready to go, so off we went!
Unfortunately, I was not familiar with the airport, and after getting my taxi clearance I promptly headed for the wrong taxiway. GAAAAH! Yes, that was a total boner, and it won't happen again -- at least, not until the next bonehead thing comes up, but I at least will always know my way around and ask again if there's even a *hint* of my not knowing!
Anyway, other than that, all was smooth, and we got to see the B24 take off behind us and then later on its flight around. Only as we were going over the city did the kids think to get out their cameras, so I got permission for a turn back -- but because the bomber was chatting first we had to go waaaay back, so it looks pretty funny :-)
Pictures confirmed, it was time to head in. Everything went smoothly except that I wrestled AGAIN with the landing and floated it a bit. For all I'm getting out of these hops here and there, and even though I did 27 night landings just recently, I'm clearly still out of practice. It wasn't evident to anyone but me, though, and Eddie let me turn at the runway intersection after I *just* couldn't quite make the Delta turnoff.
Meanwhile, this is also the first GPS track I've pulled from tabitha, so I look forward to playing with that and getting the whole process down to a science to then replicate on wanda!
