After some solo work in the morning, Laura took me up so that she could get in an approach before the end of the day. Woo hoo!
It was a little interesting as we set up for the ILS 01 approach since 19 was in use, but we planned to break off and go for the miss, so all was set up just fine. Then another plane gets on the approach as we're on our way to the VOR -- and in addition to our having to know where he is, the airport traffic is all in a kerfuffle again over the new inbound guy :-)
Anyway, I got to learn something: when you go missed, you *don't* immediately break off tot he right but instead continue forward as far as you think is the airport because you're in a narrow corridor of safety. Good to know!
After that, I gave her a heading and sent her to the Canton radial both to get to KCNI for fun as well as to check our VORs for currency. They were my radios to operate, so we did that part well, but I didn't tell Laura what I was doing with NAV1 as I incrementally tuned to track our progress to meet up with NAV2 tuned to the proper radial, so she was *also* trying to figure out our progress. More experience to put in the experience bag... Oh, well!
