Leg Notes:
Laura foggled me this time; what fun. Aside from going over KLZU to make sure we stayed clear of Atlanta, we pretty much just went direct. Foggle work was uneventful; we had a good tailwind and only moderate bumps, so it was mostly moving along. We had to drop below clouds maybe half an hour out, and it sure got bumpy (although still classed as quite moderate) then; maintaining altitude became the most interesting challenge.
Along the way we rode some VORs, which was interesting. I couldn't (of course) see where we were to know how a given heading would make us behave or compare to our course, but I did eventually give up because I found that corrections to stay on the radials (and I wish I had those on this picture; perhaps one day we'll include relevant waypoints as well) were taking us farther off course than Laura would have liked. My bad riding, or misunderstanding where we were going, or more than expected wind deviation, or ... ? Ah, well.
We had a plan for approach and landing set up, and then we both allowed ourselves to forget it upon achieving the runways -- and got lined up for the wrong one! I got it resolved effectively and safely, but that's one more lesson to trust the plan and verify rather than assume; arrrgh. Then the landing, for which I was set up suboptimally because of the wrong-runway foolishness, was quite interesting; I was jockeying her all over the place riding down really ugly crossy and twisty winds. I liked my performance, though, and Laura indicated that it was pretty good, so I'm happy overall :-)
