Flight: 2012-0326-1 in N12556 (Penny) for $
KJZP - KCNI (flying time 0:20)
Laura took me with her up to Pickens to see Garrett, and I get to fly home (after getting greasy with him as an added bonus). Woo hoo!
From KJZP (Pickens County (GA)) 2012-03-26 17:28:12 to KCNI (Cherokee County Municipal Airport) 2012-03-26 17:48:48 [00:20:00] with 1 day and 0 night landings.

The first order of business was to try out our new shimmy-less front end. All went fabulously! Between a bushing here and a washer there, everything was tight as a drum -- even on a trademark (aka too fast) David taxi. Yay!
Off, then, we went for the short hop back to Cherokee. By the end of the flight it became apparent what happened on the ride back from KRYY; I need more practice in turbulence! I didn't have the same altitude challenges as I did on the other run, but I did have some of the same challenges slowing down, setting up, and dropping in; I ended up going around again, too, this time because I was just way high.
Laura had good tips on where to set power and trim for descent and approach; my challenge was that I both didn't know how to interpret what she was saying and was already behind anyway. Once I was on the ground and reviewing, things made sense; I just wasn't on the same page in the plane. We should do more armchair flying and then more bumpy pattern work, not least because that really shouldn't have been much. It's nice to know more about *why* I was running at the limit the other day, though, as well as good to learn something today.
